When the dress you buy is not the dress you had imagined

As a small child, I always envisaged myself walking up the aisle in a dress which resembled my favourite Disney Princess of the moment - a bell shaped confection which had a corset top and the utmost of sparkle everywhere. In reality, as a 26 year-old bride (many years ago) I ended up in something demure, with sleeves (I was so Kate Middleton even though I didn't know it then) and to be honest a gown which was rather understated. I loved it. But it was never the dress I had dreamed of.
And that seems to be so true of many of the brides I am working with now.
