Our friends at the magical wedding venue - the Jockey Club Rooms in Suffolk - are holding a 'meet the wedding experts' event on May 11. One of our favourite designers Terry Fox will be on hand throughout the day to answer any questions you might have about choosing your perfect dress. Not only that if you are having wobbles about how you are going to plan everything in time, Charles Howard will also be there to soothe your nerves and provide expert insight into making your day run as smoothly as possible. With input from renowned floral artist Paula Pryke and in demand snapper James Davidson, this really is an event which will stand any bride in good stead when planning her big day. We have a pair of tickets available to give away to this event. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning, then all you have to do is answer this simple question: The winner will be chosen on May 10 and will be advised via e mail. The name of the winner will be submitted for inclusion on the guest list at the event. There is no cash alternative and travel to the venue is not included as part of the prize. By entering this competition you agree to receive the Heritage Brides newsletter - you can unsubscribe at any time.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to enter the first ever Heritage Brides competition.
Keep an eye out on your inboxes this week as the winner will be announced via the newsletter. The winner will receive £250 to spend in the boutique - so whether that goes towards a stunning Terry Fox gown or a pair of Harriet Wilde heels, the choice is theirs. Remember Heritage Brides is the only bridal boutique to be located at a stately and is in the sumptuous surroundings of Hatfield House. Why not come along and see us - we promise you it will be an experience you will not forget. I seem to have spent years with a vision running round my head. I wanted to create a bridal boutique that was fun, had the wow factor and gave brides an experience they won't forget.
When we opened the doors on Tuesday, I think I can safely say that Heritage Brides has turned out even better than I hoped it would. The barn looks magical and provides the most enchanting setting for the stunning dresses. With the vintage bits and pieces I have been collecting over the years, it really represents a piece of my heritage. My Nan's tea set is on a window sill, my grandmother's doilies (which I hated as a child) fit in perfectly and we also have a vintage sewing machine from Darren's family. Not only that everything has been filled with love and support, not just from family but from my lovely friends who have been there when I have questioned what I was doing. In the last few days, I have had nothing but positive comments and encouragement which has made me all the more determined to make Heritage Brides a success. I do hope you will join me on this woodland adventure which really is my dream come true. Sam x It was an early start on April 1 when after months of waiting impatiently, I became the leaseholder for the Harness Room.
Here is where Heritage Brides will be born. The first thing that struck me was how big the space was without all the antique furniture and bits and bobs which had previously had their home there. It was everything I wanted it to be - bar the fact that there is no heating and the worst lighting I have ever come across. Cue the entrance of Jason and Aidan - the sparks tasked with making it a bright and welcoming barn, fit for the dazzling gowns I am going to have there. And that's where we are at. I am hoping that they will have finished working their magic today (Friday) so that I can get in the barn to remove what looks like 400 years worth of dirt.... So things are moving in the right direction and once the deep clean has been carried out, I can get on with transforming the space into a magical woodland full of the vintage curiosities I have been collecting. Pass the Pledge... Heritage Brides was lucky enough to be featured by the Scottish blogger Mrs P and P this week.
We are thrilled that there has been such a positive response to us even before we have opened the doors. Read the post here: http://www.mrspandp.com/supplier-spotlightgetting-to-know/a-wedding-dress-to-suit-your-shape-a-spotlight-on-heritage-brides/ It's getting exciting! Whilst flicking through the pages of Bridal Buyer in advance of the White Gallery, I was delighted to read about Heritage Brides.
With a headline of 'Retail Bliss', I am over the moon that we have been featured. What is Heritage Brides all about? For me it was about creating something different for a bride. When I knew that I had got the Harness Room at Hatfield House, I just knew that it would be a magical experience looking for their dream dress. What makes Heritage Brides different? The fact that it is the only bridal boutique in the country to be located in a stately home, for me gives it a really romantic air. Knowing that Elizabeth 1 might have walked through the barn 500 years before seemed to fit in exactly with the Heritage Brides philosophy. A wedding dress will always come with heritage because it is part of a personal history. Brides. Are you looking for a different experience when choosing your wedding dress? Then look no further than Heritage Brides – the newest bridal boutique to open in Hertfordshire. Based in the Harness Room at the Stable Yard in Hatfield House, Heritage Brides is a magical vintage wonderland where you will find the most amazing designer dresses, shoes and accessories. Opening in April 2014, we would like to offer one lucky bride the chance to win £250 to spend at the boutique. So you might want to redeem it against one of our drop-dead gorgeous gowns by Terry Fox, or you might find that you would like to use it to buy the most exquisite hair vine from Klair Van Elton. Or perhaps you have been searching for the right shoes for your big day? We have the hottest heels in town! No matter what you want to spend it on, you will be assured of the very best service and experience. After all, Hatfield House has always been fit for princesses! If you would like to be in with a chance of winning the £250 to spend at Heritage Brides, all you have to do is answer this simple question: At which stately home will Heritage Brides be based? a) Audley End House b) Hatfield House c) Kenwood House Terms and Conditions:
First things first. There aren’t many of us out there which have a body which can rival Kate Moss. It’s actually a fact that the most common dress size in the UK is a 16. So that means that it’s likely that the size 8 model you have seen on the pages of your favourite wedding mag, might not be exactly what you will look like in it.
But that doesn’t mean to say you won’t look fabulous. At Heritage Brides in Hertfordshire, we hope to find the right dress for each of our brides regardless of your shape, height, size or budget. And we work with you. We want to celebrate curves and real women and that’s why many of our samples dresses are in a size 14 or 16. “Lou Lou Bridal dresses are perfect for curvy ladies,” said boutique owner Sam Newby-Ricci, “because they have full 50s skirts and fitted bodice which works to emphasise a bust and hide a bum! And the tea length gowns teamed up with a pair of heels show off the smallest part of your leg. It’s a very sexy look!” Belle & Bunty gowns are perfect for the taller lady. The Darcey which is part of the Heritage Brides collection also has elbow length sleeves which can make a bride feel more comfortable. And don’t forget your underwear – the right bra and knickers combo can hide a multitude of sins and give an hour glass effect. If however you aren’t Amazon like in the height department, don’t fret. Terry Fox gowns at Heritage brides are fun, flirty and fitted. And that means they are made to your measurements, so you know that you will be getting a gown that is perfect for you. And of course if you are lucky enough to be a size 10, then choose a dress which highlights the bit of your bod which you love the most. New designer Maria Senvo dresses are great for brides who want to show off their backs. Sensual and elegant at the same time, these gowns are great for girls who want something a bit out of the ordinary. “The most important thing to consider is how you feel in a dress,” said Sam, “No one apart from the bride can get ‘that feeling’ and it doesn’t matter if you are a petite size 6 or a size 20, you will know when you are wearing the one for you.” Heritage Brides is a new bridal boutique which is opening in the prestigious location of Hatfield House in Hertfordshire in April.
