There's nothing we like more in Heritage Brides than a bit of vintage BoHo. But not every bride is convinced that the laid-back look is the one they want for their big day. That's why we are pleased to introduce the dazzling new collection from Christine Dando. Every gown which we will stock in the boutique is a nod to an iconic movie star. The emphasis is on classic styling with intricate beadwork and stunning shapes. Once in a while a collection of dresses come along which you look at and think I love all of them! This is exactly what happened when I saw Love Marley by Watters. Definitely a fashion forward brand with the emphasis on design, quality and cost. And above all most definitely a Heritage Brides vibe. Very understated. Very unstructured and with a great choice of different tones which peep through light tulles and laces to give the merest hint of colour.
Much as I would have liked to stock every dress in the collection, space and finances wouldn't allow. So when I was offered the opportunity to host a designer weekend with all the Love Marley gowns, I couldn't refuse. Taking place in the boutique on August 15 and August 16, we will have the entire Love Marley collection in the barn. And any orders placed over the weekend will receive a 10% discount. The interest has already been phenomenal and there are just two appointments left. So don't miss out. Give us a call and get your name down now for this one-off opportunity. Telephone 01707 707842. Here's your chance to win an amazing Eliza and Ethan multi-wrap dress worth £185. All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is head over to our Facebook page and like it. Simples.
The dress we are giving away is in the most popular colour of all - Dusty Rose - and what's even better is that as one size fits all, you know that you'll get the right size! So if you would like to be in with a chance of winning this dress - or any of your friends for that matter - get on over to our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/HeritageBrides and start spreading the word about the most magical boutique in Hertfordshire. When a bride embarks on a quest to find the dress of her dreams, it is probably fair to say that Asda doesn't feature too highly on her must-shop destinations. While a number of supermarket chains have ventured into the wedding dress arena, it is with a certain buyer in mind. The bride who buys their dress from Asda or Tesco or wherever.....won't want first class service, they won't mind sharing a changing area with a school child buying their first uniform or a man buying his work suit. They won't care that the dress - which no doubt will be affordable - will most likely be made of synthetic fabrics and churned out in a factory by a questionable workforce in Asia.
So you have found 'the one'. You have ordered it and you have gone back to the boutique from where you bought it. This is the moment of truth. This is when you see for the first time how you are going to look on your wedding day, the day you have dreamt about since being a small child.
But instead of being in floods of tears from the sheer happiness that this moment has evoked, there can quite often be tears because the dress doesn't quite fit and the image staring back from the full-size mirror is not the one imagined. I just had to share these amazing images of my Heritage Bride, Claire. She visited the boutique last year shortly after we had opened. Not only did she find one dress which suited her personality perfectly and ticked the traditional boxes, she also found a real vintage lace gown to change into for her evening reception at South Farm in Herts.
Claire was inspirational in the way she envisaged her day. The dresses she chose were customised - embellishments removed and sashes added. She had vision and could see that by taking a pretty dress she could create her own look which no one else would have. Right down to the yellow socks. Tears of pride Claire, you rocked it! As a small child, I always envisaged myself walking up the aisle in a dress which resembled my favourite Disney Princess of the moment - a bell shaped confection which had a corset top and the utmost of sparkle everywhere. In reality, as a 26 year-old bride (many years ago) I ended up in something demure, with sleeves (I was so Kate Middleton even though I didn't know it then) and to be honest a gown which was rather understated. I loved it. But it was never the dress I had dreamed of.
And that seems to be so true of many of the brides I am working with now. Heritage Brides is pleased to announce that we will be stocking a few pieces from start-up accessory designer Simply Faye.
To start with we have chosen the awesome Fleur side tiara which would work well with our Belle & Bunty gowns as well as our vintage inspired Lou Lou dresses. Sunday March 1 marked the official start of Spring. It was also the day when the Stable Yard at Hatfield House hosted it's first ever Dogs and Daffs Day in aid of our local Riding for the Disabled charity - Digswell Place RDA.
Heritage Brides sponsored the Prettiest Bitch category in the fun dog show which was a complete sell-out with the class being full. The winner chosen was a special little pup who had been rescued from Romania as a stray. (Pictures to follow). It was humbling to see so many people give up their time on a Sunday to support this worthy charity and an incredible £2,500 was raised during the course of the day. If you would like to find out more, visit the RDA website here>>> Hatfield House will be hosting its first wedding fayre of the season on Sunday (February 22) so why not pop into Heritage Brides too?
Not only will there be a dazzling array of local suppliers showcasing their products at the well-organised event, our doors will be open too to welcome brides. See wedding dresses from designers such as Maria Senvo, Terry Fox, Belle & Bunty and Lou Lou Bridal and gaze lovingly at our shoes by Harriet Wilde and Merle & Morris. And what's even better is that Heritage Brides isn't just for the day - we're open in the Stable Yard six days a week (closed Monday). Call for an appointment now: 01707 707842. |
